Computer instead of animals - campaign for rescue thousands of animals in the Ukraine

Frog before the killing, Institut for physiology, University of Charkiw, source: www.tierschutz.de (openPR) - with its campaign “computer instead of animals” wants to save the Federal association humans for animal rights thousands of rabbits, guinea pigs and frogs into the Ukraine the life. By making the technical equipment available to the replacement of bioassays in the study of biology and veterinary medicine at two Ukrainian universities the federation does not however only want to save to animal lives. German university teachers are to recognize that a successful study without animal consumption is possible. The Tierrechtler calls now to donations for this campaign.

World-wide at medical, veterinary and biological faculties of animals are killed, in order to study structure and function of the organs. Long-known text book knowledge is obtained. Also in Germany this is still usual at most universities. Animal-consumption-free teaching methods such as computer models are available in large number, are however hardly used. In the Ukraine faces one these modern teaching materials very unlocked. Also in the Ukrainian animal law for the protection is already fixed, which Tierrechtler in Germany demand for years: Students may not be forced against their ethical conviction to the participation in animal experiments.

“During it many German university teachers at the will to the reform is missing, lacks it to the Ukrainian universities particularly the moneys”, explains Dr. Kurt Simons, chairman of the Federal association humans for animal rights. The federation has the catastrophic attitude conditions of experimental animals and the killing of frogs by means of shears in Charkiw, which documents second largest city of the Ukraine. University teachers of the university and the veterinarian academy in Charkiw are however ready to change the student training over to computer simulations.

The Federal association wants four student courses with computers and other alternatives to equip and per year at least 1,200 rabbits, guinea pigs, rats and frogs as well as some dogs and cats in such a way to save. “The project should be also a signal at university teachers in Germany to finally recognize and change to a animal-friendly instruction organization the indications over of the time”, so Simons further.

In the next months the Tierrechtler donations collects, in order to procure the devices and to hand it over medium-effectively locally. Prominent support receives the project thereby by the Ukrainian singer and parliament delegate Ruslana, which won 2004 the Eurovision Song Contest.
