Current Turkey round-look: starting from January 2007 exclusive as electronic newspaper

Current Turkey round-look - Turkey objectively and critically regarded; starting from January 2007 as electronic newspaper in the Internet (openPR) - already for some months the publishers of the only German-language weekly paper in Turkey look for CURRENT TURKEY ROUND-LOOK & GREAT LIFE an answer to the question whether and under whatever conditions a newspaper can be published like the ATR & PL in Turkey in the future.

“With large interest - to say over not: with large concern - we observe already since longer the developments of Turkey,” explain the publishers Jürgen P. foot and Andrea Morawe in the discussion. “The present relationship of Turkey to the Europä union is thereby only one aspect. Conditions relating to domestic affairs, those are by far more important according to our estimate on a struggle for power between different interest groupings and power blocs, running off in the background, to close leave. for us”

Foot further: “We cannot exclude that these arguments will have also influence on the liberty of opinion and our personal freedom of action as publishers of our newspaper. Thus however those is no longer ensured 2004 into ATR guiding principles the fixed objective and at the same time critical reporting possibly already.”

Consequence: Until further notice ATR & PL only as electronic newspaper

CURRENT TURKEY ROUND-LOOK & GREAT LIVES therefore starting from January 2007 no more in Turkey one does not publish and one prints. The Turkish office is closed effective 24 December 2006.

The newspaper is produced and given change in the future virtually in the Internet. The selling takes place as electronic newspaper (technical term: E-PAPER) until further notice only over Internet. The past Zeitungsformat is maintained to a large extent, adapted however to the limited possibilities with most readers existing PC printer. While the most readers and reader will presumably be limited there to black-and-white expressions, the total expenditure of the newspaper appears in the future on the screen four colored.

With the conversion to excluding electronic spreading the publishers react to the newspaper also to the fact that in Turkey to today a surface covering distribution of the newspaper to economically justifiable conditions is not possible.

Foot to this problem: “Our past experiences show that a dispatch with the post office leads to unreasonable running times, in some cases the newspaper also at all did not arrive. A dispatch with private delivery services is possible, but connected with costs, which lie over the newspaper price. Also co-operation with a Turkish enterprise for newspaper distributions had to be terminated at that time after some months because of completely unsatisfactory results and at the same time high costs.”

Andrea Morawe, responsibly for marketing and selling to the new concept: “Not least the fact that we can register month for month of approximately 80,000 accesses to our homepage, was for us a further argument to change from the conventional print version on the format E-newspaper.”
