Health expert: Expenditures for prevention are more important than such for Kuration

(openPR) - the current and also all earlier health reforms clarified the substantial interest conflicts around financing stream in the health system between technical and family doctors, hospitals, Pharmaindustrie and pharmacies. The portion of the GKV Ausgabenkuchen for the individual achievement offerers very much rather certainly of the striking power of their lobbyists as of efficiency and use computations or interests of patient. But how it would look, if one sets this political back door wrangling repealed and freely let the medical profession and health experts decide, which medical and pflegerischen achievements priority and which with rather rear priority are to be financed

This question among other things took up a researcher team from England and Australia in the framework by the WHO of financed project. They asked in addition approximately 250 participants in a WHO congress. They all got a questionnaire, on which 10 different measures of the health care were listed and these should bring into an order of rank of 1-10, depending on, for like importantly them the individual achievements held. The 10 measures were:

1.) Disease preventing with children (e.g. inoculation)
2.) Nonsmoker campaigns for children
3.) House-medical medical supply when everyday illnesses
4.) Cancer of the breast early recognition investigations (Screening)
5.) Intensive care for babies after the birth
6.) Support for maintaining member
7.) Treatment of schizophrener patients
8.) Supply of artificial hip joints
9.) Heart transplant ions
10.) Cancer therapies for smokers

The measures were given in completely different sequence than in the above list. This list shows however, in which order the questioning participants classified the individual achievements after their importance. Afterwards it shows up thus under the line that preventive measures and in particular achievements for children rank completely in front. Right at the back therapies are for the extension of the life or for the improvement of the quality of life. Between the countries involved were also some differences, about, which concerned the classification of the measures for the therapy of schizophrener patients. Under the line the scientists found however a very high agreement.

For the health-political meaning of their study the scientists emphasized that the priority-setting of the asked experts stands in glaring contradiction to that actually to observing financing stream for the health care: “This strong and agreeing higher weighting preventively in relation to kurativen achievements stands in substantial contradiction to the actual financing priorities in most countries in the world. In the year 2004 were allotted with the OECD member states only 2,8 per cent of the public and private expenditures for health to prevention programs.”
