The long arm of the Pharma industry in the medical practice: Marketing for hochpreisige medicines
(openPR) - “application observations” cause costs at a value of 930 million euro annually, which are to be paid predominantly from the legal health insurance companies to in Germany. In opinion of many scientists, in addition, cash-medical combinations they are predominantly more intended marketing instruments for the increase of the conversions (usually more hochpreisiger) medicines, but no studies with scientific force of expression. This classification was supported now by a new study.
The scientists had all 118 Erstmeldungen over application observations (AWB), which at the cash-medical Federal union in the second half-year 2005 had died, more near taken under the magnifying glass and evaluated their scientific quality after a detailed Erhebungsbogen. During the evaluation of these elbows then substantial lack showed up:
• Only half of the application observations contained data concerning the methodical procedure, e.g. whether a control's group was intended or not.
• Likewise only half showed a study plan, from which followed, which effects should be observed and logged in detail. Under the line 85% the AWBs exhibited no or no scientifically adequate study plan.
• Extremely important aspects of investigation over medicament effects were rather rarely taken into account.
• It was stated beyond that that a majority of the examined medicines was settled in the high price segment: The costs of a regulation on the average amounted to 370 euro, with approximately 40 euro average regulation costs.
• Only with 19 per cent of all AWBs a reference to a planned publication of the study results was in the documents.
In a press release of the technicians health insurance company, whose scientific Institut WINEG accomplished the study, also their problem for the costs in the health system is emphasized: “The new medicines, which are ordered in the application observations, are on the average nearly ten times as expensive as the medicines, which received the patients before for example against their high blood pressure or their asthma. While an average regulation lies in the legal health insurance (GKV) with approximately 40 euro, medicines stand in each case for approximately 370 euro. on the prescriptions with the application observations”
