“With this resolution the efficiency of the European Union advancement programs is coupled for the first time to the development of particularly endangered kinds of bird of the agrarian landscapes”, said NABU president Olaf Tschimpke. Despite the continuous resistance on the part of the Federal Department of Agriculture the European Union informed itself on a field bird indicator, which was compiled in coordination with the NABU Dachverband BirdLife international. The inventory data of the field birds is raised predominantly from honorary active ornithologists in approximately 1,000 representative monitoring surfaces.

Contrary to other bird communities suffer most field birds under particularly strong inventory decreases, which already led to expiring the occurrences of some kinds in Germany. From the endangerment analyses it shows up that the agriculture for the decrease of the birds the agricultural country shank plays the by far largest role.
