Break-through for the Geothermie in Bavaria: Second drilling with Munich exceeds all expectations

(openPR) - Unterhaching, 19.01.2007: To 18.01.2007 the second deep well of the Geothermieprojektes was locked successfully in Unterhaching with Munich with the statement of the Fündigkeit. The provisional result exceeds all past expectations: Temperature and pouring quantity of the water found in 3.577 depth suggest again better pouring rates, as during the first deep well. Thus the final Fündigkeit and the economical are secured like geological success of the project. The temperature is again clearly higher in the comparison to the first deep well and lies at present with measured 127°C. The length of the borehole amounts to altogether 3,864 meters. The exact evaluation of the data will be final in the course of the coming week.
„This is the break-through for the Geothermie as alternative energy source in Bavaria “explains Christian Schönwiesner Bozkurt of Rödl & partner, director/conductor of the Geothermieprojektes in Unterhaching. „Over 80 cities, municipalities and private investors, which plan comparable projects, for this moment waited. With the success of the second drilling the proof began that the mol ASS ASS is a reliable supplier for the energy and heat supply of the future. “Rödl & partners count alone in Bavaria on an investment volume of approx. 3.2 billion euro for the Geothermie in the coming years.
The Geothermieprojekt in Unterhaching is one of the most important pilot projects for the use of Geothermie as alternative energy source in Europe. According to the detailed Businessplanung from Rödl & partners to the economic conversion of a Geothermieprojektes with current and heat production at the location Unterhaching was the objective to reach a minimum temperature of 100°C and a Wasserförderung of 100 l/s. The most optimistic prognoses did not promise a temperature of 120°C and a pouring of up to 150 l/s. these prognoses in far parts of the professional world as „scientifically possible, realistically however attainable “were evaluated.
The first drilling in Unterhaching had resulted in thermales water with a temperature of 123° degrees Celsius and a pouring of 150 litres per second of quantity of water in 3,350 meters of depth. After the provisional results of the second drilling the complete quantity of water from the first drilling without further pumping Rome expenditure can be led back into the earth, since the pouring rate is clearly higher, than so far expects. This will continue to increase economy of the project, because additional current expenditure will not be necessary for the feedback of the water.
„From the knowledge of the market we are sure us out that a multiplicity of further projects is not only converted now, but that their conceptions are again considered “, judge Schönwiesner Bozkurt. It disburses itself to set also within the range of the renewable energies on economy and quality.
The energy and heat gain from Geothermie could become an export hit for technology and know-how from Germany. The Geothermieprojekt in Unterhaching, at present the largest project for the use of geothermal energy in Germany, develops thereby to the example for the economic use of renewable energies in Germany.
„Before the background of rising energy costs the question about a safe alternative to fossil fuels arises. River and warmth from Geothermie are favorable, and increase independence from the world market “, avowedly Schönwiesner Bozkurt. For the Geothermieprojekt in Unterhaching by Rödl & partner its own long-distance heating price system was developed, which make in the future clearly more favorable heat prices possible, as after the past application of fixed prices to fossil fuels.
The test and consulting company Rödl & partner hold the direction of the project for the entire Geothermieprojekt in Unterhaching. „After our information there is at present Germany far an investment volume for deep-geothermal energy production of approx. 5.5 - 6.5 billion euro “, thus Schönwiesner Bozkurt. Alone in Bavaria could be covered in the future 8-10 per cent of the past long-distance heating need by deep-geothermal energy.
At present the SIEMENS AG in Unterhaching builds the first and largest potash well plant for generation of current from geothermal energy in Germany. Siemens the power station will presumably go in the autumn 2007 to the net. In Unterhaching thereby the world-wide most modern geothermal power plant will develop, which within the low-temperature range so mentioned (until 200°C) works and substantially more efficiently and thus more economically than so far the existing hot or Thermalwasser locally in energy converts.
Coming, 123°C hot water, in contrast to conventional Geothermie plants thereby from approx. 3,500 meters depth, for the local long-distance heating net is used, but does not only serve depending upon need also the generation of current. So can e.g. in the summer, if only little long-distance heating is used, up to 3.36 megawatts electricity is produced and into electricity mains fed. This quantity of electricity corresponds to the consumption of approximately 10,000 average households of the German Federal Republic.
The Germany far largest Geothermieprojekt in Unterhaching is supported with a not repayable subsidy and a special loan by the Federal Ministry for environment, nature protection and reactor safety to the amount of altogether 7.2 million euro.
