Small sewage treatment plants: Concrete or plastic?
(openPR) - with the choice of a suitable small sewage treatment plant many factors are to be considered, which are locally discussed best with a technical adviser, so that all conditions and requirements can be considered. A question, which emerges again and again thereby, reads: What is better Klärbehälter from concrete or plastic We give in the following an overview of the respective advantages under different conditions.
Delivery opportunities
· Plastic containers are available only in compact construction with rigid container masses. Concrete containers can be manufactured and supplied also to ring building method. That has the advantage that the utilizable volume can be adapted to the customer's requests. In addition the concrete elements can be individually produced, e.g. with changed inlet drillings.
· The covers of the Klärbehälter, which are sunk in the soil, can be manufactured with concrete building method up to the class D (of LKWs passably), with plastic only up to the class A (accessible) or B (passenger car passable).
Installation types
· Compact concrete containers need heavy construction equipment for shifting and according to fastened underground. With „the light “plastic containers (250kg) this is not necessary; they are therefore suitable for the installation with cramped space conditions. With concrete containers in ring building method also excavators can be used.
· Due to their weight compact concrete containers are relative already, if necessary are possible an additional lift safety device. They can be used therefore under certain conditions also in groundwater-endangered areas.
Characteristics
· Of some feared leakage or concrete corrosion with containers in ring building method does not arise, if installation, enterprise (in particular ventilation) and maintenance schedule in accordance with the manufacturer data are adhered to.
· With plastic containers the Nachrüstung with newer equipment technology is difficult. With concrete containers is this no problem; in addition there is no sound transmission with them, i.e. no pump noises penetrate outward as with the plastic containers.
Result
Approx. 95% of all small sewage treatment plants in Germany are from concrete, 5% from plastic. Concrete worked satisfactorily as standard, in special situations (see above) can be plastic a good alternative.
