Dolphins and whales form an important component in the fodder chain of the seas. Without it would be also continued many fish types, in a maximum endangered.

Already during one period of 3 years the team of Green Ocean observes a constant rise at plastic garbage in the Mediterranean. During recently held sea practical courses the participants in the sea surface determine an average raster spacing of 80m between a piece of plastics and the next. When investigations with underwater cameras and sonar at the sea-bottom further fields were discovered by plastic garbage. Converted to the surface of the Mediterranean, with an accepted density of 100g/m2 an environmental impact of approx. 2006t plastic garbage results in, alone in the Mediterranean.

On 4 September this yearly was called the team by Green Ocean by the coastal awake directing center Marina di Pisa to a Delphinkadaver (stenella striata) at the beach of the national park by San Rossore. The Kadaver exhibited traces of the decay, was however still receives enough over into the animal hospital of the University of Pisa for an autopsy to be transferred. One found stomach contents of 2900 g plastics - by gastric acid welded together foil and a bottle. As cause of death only intestine catch (ileus) could be documented.

18. September 2006 was found, likewise at the beach by San Rossore, by local Fischer, a sea turtle gotten sick (cheloniidae - caretta caretta) and handed over to our team. Despite intensive efforts the animal already died within fewer hours.

In co-operation with different local protection organizations we lead in the sea-area of the toskanischen Archipelago Delfin and/or whale observations through around the existence to list actively. At present we operate an information action around also Fischer in the region of the toskanischen islands into the protection project to also include. Active environmental protection, observation of the water quality and the fight of the contamination must be regarded naturally as a part of the dolphin protection.
