Germany first 24-Stunden-RFID-Bibliothek of the University of Karlsruhe
Students in Karlsruhe borrow their books now also at night and on weekend out
(openPR) - since 2006 the university library Karlsruhe opened seven days in the week and around the clock. This 24-Stunden enterprise, so far in Germany singularly, could be realized only with the installation of the BiblioChip® RFID of system. The medium safety device, the self check-out counter and the fully automatic book return regulates the soft and hardware Swiss of the specialist Bibliotheca RFID LIBRARY of system AG. The experiences with the new technology and the continuous opening are today continual positive until. Trebling of the numbers of visitors is particularly significant and surprisingly in the comparison to the previous year. The annual lending number of 600.000 media did not increase clearly thereby. Result: New user groups were opened, which estimated the library with an existence of over one million media as modern information and communication center of the university.

In particular Sundays the additional working hours until late are noticed in the evening: Compared with Saturday are there even twice as many visitors. By the employment of RFID the work times for the personnel remain unchanged to the previous year.
